Chisholm & Winch has recently started a 22-week contract at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4, collaborating with Heathrow’s delivery integrators, Mace.

The Terminal 4 upgrade project is crucial to Heathrow’s ongoing commitment to extensive infrastructure upgrades, to ensure passengers receive first-class service. Meeting the demands of such a complex project, while maintaining the terminal’s operations, requires meticulous planning and execution in a bustling live environment.

Our involvement within the project is comprehensive and includes demolition, strip-out and enabling works in preparation for the Terminal’s state-of-the-art upgrades. Over 22 weeks, we will be removing and replacing ceilings, ensuring unrestricted access for essential trades such as electricians. At the same time, we will be installing security hoardings in passenger-facing spaces to secure the work areas and protect passengers during different project phases. In preparation for new flooring surfaces, including a new raised access floor, we will remove the floor tiles and screed and prepare the surface to accommodate new flooring.

Working in a live airport environment can be challenging, so we have meticulously planned our work, which will be carried out at night, to minimise disruptions to the airport’s day-to-day operations. This detailed approach is designed to seamlessly integrate each project phase, ensuring efficiency, safety and optimal outcomes for Heathrow’s Terminal 4.
